Rochdale Pétanque crossed the border into Yorkshire today to take part in Huddersfield Pétanque Club’s Anniversary Competition.
Teams from around the Northwest including Yorkshire, Nottingham and Manchester took a squad of 7 to compete in 3 different sets of competitions – Mixed Doubles, Open Doubles and Triples with squad points accumulated for the overall win.
The weather was warm but the competition was scorching 
We met and played against both familiar and new to us teams and had a fantastic day with some very tough competition.
Rochdale’s team consisted of:
Dave & Linda – Mixed Doubles – Winning the Gold with an amazing 4.5 out of 5 games
Darren & Debbie – Open Doubles – Runners up Silver
Ian, Christine & Paul H – Triples – Runners up Silver
The heroes of the day were Dave & Linda who not only played an absolute blinder of a game but also fed us at lunchtime with a lovely meat & potato pie – Thanks 
The overall squad points were so close it came down to a one end play off between Heckmondwike Petanque Club and Rainworth Petanque who each had 19 points, with the triples teams playing for the win.
