The 2nd round of the Pétanque England Euro Plate took place today (26th April), with Rochdale B hosting Ravenshead Pétanque at our home ground in Milnrow.
The day kicked off with two fiercely contested triples games, with both Rochdale and Ravenshead taking one win apiece—setting the stage for an exciting set of doubles.
Christine and Joanne started the doubles with an absolute masterclass in precision pointing, storming to a dominant 13–0 win.
Darren and Debbie looked set to follow suit, but a dramatic twist saw their final boule clip the coche and roll straight to Ravenshead’s waiting boules—handing the game to the visitors.
Meanwhile, Paul and Gen had a rollercoaster of a match. After jumping to a 5–0 lead, Ravenshead’s ladies clawed their way back with some excellent pointing. What followed was a breathless, point-for-point battle with some fantastic shooting from Paul and pinpoint placements from Gen. With only a couple of points in it, it all came down to the final end—Rochdale clinched 2 points to win it 13–12!
Final result: Rochdale B 3 – Ravenshead 2

To Ravenshead—thank you for a great match and brilliant sportsmanship. It was our first time meeting you, but certainly not the last. We look forward to arranging another friendly clash soon!
