Today, one of Rochdale Pétanque Club’s rising junior stars, Eddie, attended a special coaching session hosted by Pétanque England at Mansfield Pétanque Club.
Despite the very hot weather keeping attendance a little lower than expected, the silver lining was that Eddie benefitted from plenty of valuable one-on-one coaching — and thankfully, there were plenty of drinks to keep everyone cool and hydrated!
The morning was packed with focused training sessions covering key pétanque skills such as lobbing, shooting, crouch pointing, spinning, coche throwing, and knocking-on. Coaches also worked closely with players on improving posture, stance, and foot positioning.
After a well-earned lunch break, players had the opportunity to put their new skills into practice in friendly games alongside the coaches. These matches were a great way to learn more about tactics and decision-making in competitive play.
Eddie came away having learnt a lot — and most importantly, really enjoyed the day.
Sessions like this are truly invaluable for our junior players. We already know we’ve got a future England and Great Britain representative in the making!💪🌟
