Today, members of Rochdale Pétanque Club travelled to Wales to take part in the Open Melee hosted by Llysfaen Pétanque Club.
The weather may have been cold and wet, but the welcome and hospitality were wonderfully warm — and, of course, there was plenty of cake and flapjack to keep everyone going!
Each participant played five rounds in either doubles or triples, partnering with different people on different pistes… well, apart from one of us who seemed glued to piste 6!
It was a great opportunity to meet new faces, catch up with those we haven’t seen in a while and enjoy some friendly competition.
Results of the day:
1st: Mike – Rochdale
2nd: John – Llysfaen (who, impressively, has only been playing for a few weeks!)
3rd: Johnny – Llysfaen
4th: Tom – Llysfaen
5th: Eddie – Rochdale (our youngest entrant with three wins and a draw)
Congratulations to all the winners, and well done to everyone who took part and thank you Llysfaen for the hospitality!
