Rochdale’s two pétanque squads, Rochdale Milton and Rochdale Milnrow, have begun their opening rounds of the 2025/26 PE Euro Cup, each delivering spirited performances against strong Trafford opposition.
Milton Advance to Round Two
Rochdale Milton hosted Trafford B on Sunday, 9 November, at their home terrain. The match opened evenly, with the two sides sharing the honours in the triples. However, Milton took full control in the doubles, securing victories in all three games to claim an impressive 4–1 win and book their place in round two of the competition.
Congratulations go to the Milton team—Mike, Ian, Dave, Linda, François and Gary—for a well-earned victory and a confident start to their Euro Cup journey.
Milnrow Show Fight Against Trafford A
Rochdale Milnrow travelled to Trafford on Saturday, 22 November, to take on a strong Trafford A side. Despite determined play and several tightly contested ends, Milnrow faced the challenge of the home team’s experience on their own pistes and the depth of their squad.
A standout moment came from Colin and Barbara in their doubles match. Trailing 10–4, the pair mounted a superb comeback to turn the game around and win 13–11—a thrilling performance and a highlight of the day.
Ultimately, Trafford A secured the overall victory with a 4–1 scoreline, earning their place in the next round of the cup.
Milnrow Move into the Plate Competition
Although the loss means Milnrow will not progress in the main draw, their Euro Cup journey continues. They will enter the plate competition in the new year, where they will have further opportunities to showcase their skill and determination.
