The Pétanque North West Players Cup Doubles competition was held today at Rochdale Pétanque in Milnrow, with 13 teams competing for medals and the overall winners’ trophy.
The morning session consisted of three seeded rounds, which determined placement into the Gold and Silver competitions. This was followed by knockout rounds in the afternoon. All games were timed at 50 minutes, with a short lunch break built in to ensure the event finished before daylight faded.
Rochdale Pétanque’s bakers once again did us proud, providing a fantastic spread of sausage rolls, cheesy parcels, and a variety of cakes — always a Winner!
As ever, the standard of play was excellent throughout the day, with some very close matches and fiercely contested ends across both competitions.
