Today, Dave & Linda and Darren & Debbie from Rochdale Pétanque took a trip across the border into Yorkshire to take part in the Yorkshire Winter League Pairs, held at Stockton Fox Pétanque.
What a lovely setting! We were made to feel very welcome indeed, in true Yorkshire fashion — and being a Yorkshire lass myself, I would know!
The competition was played in a snake format, with teams drawn at random. The high standard of play made for some very hard-fought games, all played in a fantastic, friendly and competitive spirit.
Dave & Linda did exceedingly well, winning an impressive 4 out of their 5 games.
Darren & Debbie managed to get 2 wins under their belts, with their other games lost to the teams who eventually finished in the top three:
1st – Sam & Steve
2nd – Caroline & Andrew
3rd – Ian & Jan
So there was certainly some tough opposition on the pistes!
It was lovely to catch up with people we haven’t seen for a while, as well as meeting some new faces too.
A huge thank you to everyone for such an enjoyable day, and especially to Stockton Fox Pétanque for being fantastic hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip over the border!
